We were in Florence recently attending EuroPython 2011, when we were inspired to actively encourage the diversity and adoption of Python as a programming language among women. We decided actions speak louder than words, so we are pleased to present Lady Py, a Python/Django Beginners' course specially designed for women in Singapore.
This women-only workshop aims to encourage the adoption of programming (in Python) as an activity for women entrepreneurs and women in general, in Singapore.
It will be a practical and hands-on series of workshops conducted over 3 Saturdays in August.
Participants are expected to bring their own laptop. Women who have no programming experience are welcome to join us too.
The goal of the workshop will be to have all participants learn and understand the fundamentals of Python and Django. Each participant will put up a simple web app (of their own idea/design) online at the end of the course.
This beginners' course will be conducted over 3 Saturdays in August — 13th, 20th and 27th of August 2011, 1pm to 5 pm.
